Taking into consideration the importance of the eel fishery from a cultural heritage point of view and the involvement of fishers in the management of brackish waters and lagoons especially, the SSF Forum workshop dedicated to European eel was aimed to stimulate the participation of small-scale European eel fishers and European eel scientists from different countries around the Mediterranean, in order to get together and exchange on three main topics: (i) the critical status of the European eel stock and fisheries; (ii) Eel habitats at risk: human impacts and threats; and (iii) Data collection: common work shared information and the collaboration between science and fisher. It will give a space to eel fishers.
